Brownies and Bakes
BROWNIES & BAKES
POST INCLUDES AD/GIFTED ITEMS.
If like me you have a bit of a sweet tooth, then anything baked and coated in chocolate is a winner. Heading to your local high-street to indulge on supermarket treats or cafe chain cakes is fine, but buying from your local baker and small business maker is the most rewarding option. Plus, they’re made with love and fresher than ever. Check out some of the independent businesses I have had the pleasure of working along side in testing and trailing their delicious bakes. Some items were *gifted in exchange for advertisement but all reviews and images are my own.
Biscuit & Crumb
Back in early 2019 I purchased the cutest Valentines inspired gift box from Biscuit and Crumb. I found the small business on Etsy at the start of my blogging journey and they were my first purchase when creating content for my page. Everything from the packing, letterbox convenience and detailing on the biscuits were so beautiful, as well as tasting delicious (almost too good to eat right? almost). You could see all the hand painted detailing on each biscuit which you wouldn’t get from your regular bakery, or packet of hobnobs, so I defiantly felt it was money well spent. I have since headed over to Biscuit & Crumb to purchase some more fun and quirky biscuits, but it seems they have hung up their aprons for a while. I hope they will be turning the ovens on soon and carrying on with their small business venture as I can not recommend their gorgeous treats enough.
Bad Dog Bakery
Bad Dog Bakery is founded and owned by local babe Ellie who is based in Leeds, delivering brownies to people of the North! The name and branding is inspired by her gorgeous pooch with the fun saying “Sweet Treats Definitely Too Good For The Dog“. I purchased one of Bad Dog Bakery’s brownie boxes and they were the most delicious, handmade bakes with super chocolatey flavourings and fillings. One thing I love about Ellie and her business is her personality that shines through as well as her passion for turning her hobby into her hustle by battling the typical english weather on local market stalls. Check out Bad Dog Bakery for gorgeous artisan bakes!
Little Bee Bakes
Little Bee Bakes is a home based business in Ormskirk, which I love as I have family over there. Jess at Little Bee Bakes specialises as a ‘Online Letterbox Bakery’ as well as monthly subscriptions with bake or brownie subscriptions available. I ordered myself a brownie box in 2019 and was so pleased with the letterbox service and brownies inside. I think my favourite had to be the jammy dodger blondie or the chocolate orange brownie. I think these would be such a great idea for a gift for somebody as you can set up a running subscription for monthly letterbox treats or a ‘one-off’ style gift too. It is great to see the delicious biscuits and treats Jess incorporates into her bakes each month too and always leaves me hungry after a scroll through her page.
Livs Bakes & Cakes
Where to start with Livs Bakes & Cakes!? I feel like Liv triggered my obsession with lotus biscoff, because since trying her biscoff infused cupcakes they are all I think about. Liv at Livs Bakes & Cakes kindly gifted me a selection of her sweet treats and they’re still at the top of my list and I recommend her regularly as she is a local Brighouse girl too. Liv is a self taught baker which is even more impressive and has something for everybody with her wide range of flavours. I sampled the chocolate orange brownies as well as the lotus biscoff cupcakes (as pictured). The bakes came beautifully packaged with an informative card and stickers too with the date they were made and a ‘warning contains’ label which I thought was really handy for those with allergies.
B's Cakes & Bakes
B’s Cakes & Bakes, based in West Yorkshire, kindly gifted me a brownie box to try, and no lie, they were the moistest, yummiest, brownies ever! I defiantly would go out and buy these and recommend to all my fellow brownie loving pals! If you are looking for gorgeous occasion cakes too then they have totally got you! You only have to scroll through their dreamy instagram feed to see the talent this small team has! By now you have gathered I love my lotus biscoff, but B’s Cakes & Bakes created an Oreo filled brownie too and this was my favourite in this batch. I can’t wait to scoff these again in the near future.
Blush Bakes is an amazing home baker creating absolutely stunning decorative bakes. The baker specialises in bespoke products for all occasions and has also created gorgeous pieces for big businesses such as Pretty Little Thing for their events and branding. I was recently gifted a trio of lollipop biscuits and just look how unreal they are! Blush Bakes took inspiration from my Instagram feed and created these. The detailing is amazing and all the little decorations. I have since used Blush Bakes for a small party I hosted, personalising them with names and a tropical theme. Seeing this small business grow and seeing her talent recognised is just amazing and I know they are one to watch.
Lucy's Little Bake House
Lucys Little Bake House is a local baker making home-made baked for all us Yorkshire folk to enjoy! Lucy’s Little Bake House can also send her baked good to anywhere in the UK, so everyone can have a slice of the good stuff. Lucy kindly gifted me a bake box filled with amazing treats! It was so lovely to be able to try everything she made, and you know when things just take you back to when you were younger and just taste homely and comforting? Thats how I felt! All the classics like millionaire shortbreads, flapjacks, chocolate tiffins, scones and so much more, but with a Lucy’s Little Bake House twist. I can see why so many cafes want to stock her bakes and her afternoon tea looks awesome too with a mix of sweet and savoury treats.
Bakes By Vanilla Bean
Bakes by Vanilla Bean is a home baker all about the freshly baked brownies and cookies! If you take a scroll through the bakers Instagram or website you’ll soon see she is a jack of all trades around the baking arena creating occasion cakes, blondies, brownies and cookies. Lianna at Bakes by Vanilla Bean kindly gifted me a box of the biscoff brownies to try, it came with 9 heavenly slices of rich, chocolatey, brownie goodness filled with biscoff and belgium white chocolate chips. Topped off with a drizzle of more biscoff and white chocolate, finished with a biscoff crumb. They were was as tasty as they sound, and as inviting as it looks! The packaging and attention to detail was so lovely too and the fact they can be posted right to your door is a bonus!
Food Lady is run by my besties Mum, so already I am biased and have probably gained a stone over the years from the homemade sausages rolls we used to bring back to uni and endless cakes and bakes with every cuppa when I visit! But, Food Lady is a real business boss creating ‘Little Treats’ to the lucky people of West Yorkshire. Within Food Lady’s collection is Garden Treats which are created with home grown ingredient from the garden! My favourite from the collection is the Butternut Squash and Orange Cake, you really wouldn’t believe there is fruit and veg within the cakes as they’re so delicious. Settling those cravings with every bite, without the guilt!
The Brunch Diary is a new small business providing grazing platters and brunch boxes to babes of the North. The Brunch Diary can be found in West Yorkshire and Manchester making sure everyone can get their hands on these beautiful boxes of heaven! The team gifted me a brunch box to try upon the launch of their business. The presentation, little details and treats inside were so thoughtfully planned. I thought these would make such a lovely idea for a brunch party, bridal shower or something along those lines. Even a little treat for a friend or neighbour to cheer them up in these strange times to start the morning off right. It is great to see how the business has expanded within grazing platters too, which look equally as delicious for events or cosy nights in.
Little Lodge Confectionery
Little Lodge Confectionery is an ‘Award Winning Chocolatier‘ creating delicious Belgian and single origin chocolate. I have followed Little Lodge Confectionery for a while now and always find myself drooling over the gorgeous flavours and different styles of chocolate they make, so when I saw the new season range, I ordered! I ordered the Orange Crisp, Pumpkin Spice and Biscoff Stuff Chocolate Bar. First off, I just want to comment on the chocolate wrapper, so beautiful! But it has nothing on the yumminess of what is inside. The orange crisp was amazing, crunchy and colourful! The pumpkin spice tasted like autumn with a fun coppery coating. And the biscoff stuff chocolate, oh WOW. You need to try this, that is all I will say!!! I can’t wait to get my greedy hands on more.
